Wedding Questions and Answers https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2020/4/WeddingQandA Hello!

Here is a collection of the most popular questions I get asked as a wedding photographer. I hope they help you!

What is your photography style?

I aim to capture authentic meaningful photographs. I like to capture the weddings with a documentary focus and a touch of styling when needed. I try to capture authentic moments and not over-pose.  I want your wedding photographs to remind you of joyful moments, laughter, and moving emotion. I often use prompts to help my couples relax. For example I will ask you to practice your first dance seeking to capture that moment and emotion. My editing tends to be what is considered moody but it can depend on the couple, the wedding, and the day.

What camera gear do you use?

I shoot Canon whenever possible. I have two bodies with a variety of lenses. I like to shoot on prime lenses and try to use natural light whenever possible. I do have a few canon flash units and a light bar that I use for reception and indoor shots when needed. All of my camera bodies are full-frame meaning that I provide high-resolution images with large file sizes.

How many weddings have you shot?

I started as a wedding photographer in 2014 and have captured over 100 weddings as a main photographer as well as a second shooter. Every wedding is different and though I have seen so many I still tend to tear up at every single one.

How do I book?

Email me to book your wedding. I will need to know your wedding date and location to start our conversation and then we can go from there. bcbphotography@bcb-photography.com

How much is your deposit?

1/3 of your package is due at booking as a retainer fee.

What is your cancelation policy?

You can read the contract to get a full understanding but the condensed version is as follows.

You may cancel this contract at any time by giving written notice to me but in doing so you forfeit any monies previously paid. Weddings that are postponed to a later date will retain the fee as long as I can re-schedule for the new date and time.

What is your plan if there is an emergency or you are ill preventing you from photographing my wedding

In the case last minute I am unable to make it to your wedding I will first let you know what I going on and have a plan of action. I am part of a group of photographers that can cover me in an emergency. I will still edit the images so they will still have the same style as what you were expecting. It isn’t ideal but whatever the situation that has kept me from shooting your wedding will have to be life-threatening or worse. I promise to do my best to make sure you are comfortable with the situation and to handle it to the best that I can.

When do you arrive? When do you leave?

This depends on your wedding package. My contract will start and end at the agreed-upon time stated in your contract. I do like to let you know when I am leaving in case you would like to add on additional hours. I do require payment upfront for additional hours booked last minute.

Have you shot at my venue before?

If I haven’t already shot a wedding at your venue I like to visit all new venues before your wedding to get an idea of the layout. This helps me better understand what lighting/locations will be available and I enjoy meeting the management before the big day to understand their venue rules.

Do you bring a second shooter?

I love shooting with other photographers but I will only bring a second shooter if they were added on to your package. If you decided to add on a second shooter then yes I will of course be bringing them along with me. Some weddings I do shoot alone depending on the size and location of the wedding. After learning more about your wedding I will be able to decide if I think a second shooter is necessary.

Can I have a friend/family member also photographing my wedding?

I have had couples ask me if a friend or family member who is also a professional/hobby photographer can also photograph their wedding. In these cases I do advise that they ask that person to leave their camera at home and enjoy the wedding day. Often times at weddings guests will bring their cameras and want to get images of the bride and groom. Though I understand their excitement it often does cause issues for a wedding photographer. Additional cameras at a wedding can often create confusion and get in the way of me trying to do my job. I do ask that I am the only one there with the job of documenting your wedding day.

Can I request certain images are taken?

Of course! Just keep in mind that I can’t guarantee any images. I do use a shot list (though it's memorized after many years of shooting weddings) that covers popular shots and do my best to document the entirety of your wedding day. I do ask for a group portrait list to work from as I most likely will have only met your family and friends that morning. If there are any special requests feel free to let me know and I will do my very best to get them for you.

Do you bring your own lighting?

I love to shoot using natural light whenever possible. However in situations like receptions or shooting indoors I do bring an on camera as well as an off-camera lighting system with me.

What will you wear?

I try to wear something that will look nice but blend in. I want to be comfortable as I will be on my feet all day but I promise I won’t embarrass you. If your wedding is black tie or similar I will be sure to dress up to an appropriate level.

Do I have to provide dinner?

Yes please. I do so appreciate it when my couples provide a meal for me at the reception. I don’t need to be seated with your guests but feel compelled comfortable if you choose to do so. Weddings are very long days for wedding vendors and though we enjoy every second it is a lot of work.

Do you edit all of my images?

Yes, every image I deliver to you is edited. Meaning that they have been color corrected, cropped, straightened, light adjusted, and enhanced to fit my style. They are not retouched, though I do offer retouching if requested *see add on menu for retouching price*

How many images do I receive in my gallery?

This completely depends on your wedding day. Photographers often shoot between 1000-3500 images on a wedding day but this doesn’t mean you will receive all of them. Most of the images are from different angles, duplicates to make sure I got one without any blinking, and different lighting settings. The images you receive will have been curated to remove any blurry, under or overexposed, and unflattering images. I do not guarantee an image quantity but on average you can expect anywhere from 200-1000 images in your gallery depending on your coverage.

When do I receive my images?

You will receive your image gallery right after I have uploaded them. I don’t hang on to them and wait for a specific day or time. I try my best to get galleries back within my 4-8 weeks turn around time. Weddings during the busy summer/fall season can take the full 8 weeks if necessary.

How will they be delivered?

Your images will be delivered via an online link to view your wedding gallery. This gallery canoe shared with family and friends if desired. If you purchased a USB, Wedding album, or prints they will be delivered after I send your gallery as I don’t want to keep you waiting.

Can I order products (prints/albums) from you after my wedding?

Of course. I will hold onto your wedding gallery for the foreseeable future and you can purchase prints or products from me as long as they are still accessible using your online gallery

How long do you save my gallery?

Once the gallery has been delivered please be sure to download and save to multiple locations as I am not liable to store your gallery for more than 1 month. I highly recommend you save them to multiple computers and, a hard drive, or your own USB. Your wedding gallery will stay up on my website but in case nothing happened to my files I would hate to have you lose yours.

Can I make my own prints?

Yes. All of my wedding packages allow you to make your own prints/products as long as they are for personal use. I ask you to remember to use a professional writing service to make sure your prints are of good quality. I am not responsible for poor print quality if not printed through me. I recommend using Digitallab.co.uk to point your images.

Can I share my images on social media?

Yes, but please remember to tag me. I really appreciate it when clients tag me as it is such a help for my small business.

Can I edit (filters/crop) them?

I do ask that you comply with your contact and do not edit your images. Cropping to fit on social media is fine but applying filters is not allowed.

Will you be using my images for advertising?

Yes. I will only use your images in professional advertising ways so no need to worry that ill make a meme of you. If you are not comfortable with me using your images please let me know and we can come to ad agreement.

Can I write a review of my experience?

Yes of course, and I will forever be grateful to you for doing so. This is a huge help to me and my business. You can review your experience on my Facebook page, wedding wire, or Google.

Have another question?

Let me know!

Dier Family Session | Lockport, NY https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/7/dier-family-session-lockport-ny Family Session | Lockport, NY

The Dier Family

Between the blond, hair, boat shoes, or perfectly coordinated outfits I'm not sure which detail is my favorite! Jamie and Eric are such great parents to this adorable trio of young men. These boys are so incredibly sweet and I love getting to see them for family pictures. I had so much fun capturing these images on a gorgeous, but rather hot, evening at a location near Lockport, NY. With the gorgeous summer colors Jamie picked out (she really has an eye for fashion!) these images just screamed "schools out, let summer fun begin". I think my favorite part of the session is when little Grant (who I haven't seen since his newborn session this past January) decided to walk over to me and plop himself in my lap instead of hanging out with his brothers for a picture. Melted my heart! He sure has grown up from the last time I saw him! As have Mason and Easton his two adorable and so sweet big brothers. Mom and dad are going to have their hands full with this group of heartbreakers. Lucky for the boys  Jamie and Eric seem to be doing a superb job  and even let me take a few picture of just them together. I love to set aside a little time for just the parents. I think it is important to have a reminder of how a family starts with just two people in love, that then grows into so much more. Here are some of my favorite images from their session.

I love when this family gets in front of my camera! They are as sweet as they look!

It always shocks me how fast little ones grow up!

Thank you so much Dier family! It was a pleasure capturing these memories for you, as always!

Wedding Tips For Your Wedding Day Part Two https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/wedding-tips-for-your-wedding-day-part-two Tips For Your Ceremony

Here are a few tips to help you plan your dream ceremony

Backdrop is important!

Consider the way your space is decorated. Flowers or candles along the aisle are always a gorgeous touch but remember that most of your pictures are going to take place at the head of the location. Having a nice backdrop is something many couples forget to decorate. If your ceremony is in a church sometimes this can be a challenge but outdoor weddings are fairly easy to decorate.  Pinterest is a great resource for couples to get some ideas. For ceremonies taking place inside a church you can talk to your officiate about what is allowed to be moved or what floral/decoration arrangements are allowed to be added. Usually family portraits take place at the ceremony location so another reason to take the backdrop into consideration. Keep in mind that clutter creates a busy image so try not to go overboard but think about what you want in the backdrop of your ceremony photographs.

Consider an unplugged wedding

Curious about an "unplugged wedding"? Want to know some more information?

Check out my blog post  5-reasons-to-have-unplugged-wedding-ceremony-and-how-to-do-it

Your entrance

This is it. The moment everyone has been waiting for. You and your partner have probably thought a lot about this moment. The important thing to remember is that everyone, your guests, your wedding party, your family, and your soon to be spouse is there loving and supporting you. Nerves are expected but shouldn't be overwhelming. You can choose to do a dramatic entrance and have the doors opened just before you begin your walk down the aisle or keep it more simple and stand at a point and wait for your turn to walk. It just depends on what you prefer. Remember to walk slowly and the rest will fall into place.

Your vows

If you decide to use traditional vows, write your own, or put a more unique spin on this part of your wedding just remember your reactions, whatever they might be, are the perfect reaction. If you are worried about being too emotional and don't want to share that part of yourself with your  guests maybe a first look is for you. For more information about a first look check out this blog post. to-first-look-or-not-to-first-look-that-is-the-question. Remember sound is important. Ask your ceremony location if they offer a microphone or remember to speak up so your guests can hear you.

Your first kiss

Just do it however you are going to do it! In my opinion I would never want to coach a couple on how their first kiss should play out. I personally think that however it is going to happen will be the most perfect kiss no matter what. If you REALLY are dying for some tips all I will offer is... practice makes perfect!

Your exit: bubbles, confetti, doves..oh my!

Your exit is almost as important as your entrance. This is you walking out with your new spouse.  Some couples will do a receiving line right after they walk back down the aisle but if you are looking for something a little more dramatic here are some ideas!

- You and your spouse can sneak off to a private area and let your guests file outside the doors of the ceremony space to shower you in bubbles, rice, or flower petals. It is helpful to have your wedding party and family help coordinate this by handing out the bubbles, flower petals, etc and reminding people to spread out around the exit.

-You can incorporate a stylish ride like a carriage or sports car to jump into after your exit so you can speed off together. Don't forget to give the photographer a minute or two to grab a few pictures of the moment!

-Stop at the end of the aisle for a kiss or wrap each other up in a hug

Family photographs: How to make it painless

Unless you prefer otherwise, family portraits usually take place right after the ceremony close by if not at the ceremony location. The reason photographers do this is that it is easiest to take the photos because the family is already gathered together. The hardest and most stressful part of family portraits for the couple is that family will stray away and have to be wrangled back to the location for an array of photo combinations. To help this part of your wedding go smoothly let your family, wedding party, and any other guests that you would like included in the formal portraits to meet at the location immediately after the ceremony ends. It is helpful to have the officiate make an announcement at the end of the ceremony to remind guests who should stay for pictures. Family portraits usually take 20-30 minutes depending on the size of your family. If you have a large family or you want a lot of family pictures add more time. The photographer will then go through a number of different combinations of people which can be stressful for those involved. Most photographers will have requested a list of photographs that the couple wants and as quickly and painlessly as possible take those photographs. Remember to listen to your photographers questions and remind your wedding party to help out moving family and friends in and out of the combinations. Some couples will opt to do a first look and wedding party portraits before the ceremony so that after the ceremony and family portraits they are free to join their guests for cocktail hour. See my blog posts what a first look is and how to plan one here to-first-look-or-not-to-first-look-that-is-the-question.

I hope these tips helped you!

Love, Bre

Wedding Tips For Your Wedding Day Part One https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/here-come-the-tips Tips For Your Wedding Day Part One

Here are some tips to help make the morning of your wedding go smoothly!

Bride Prep

Have the room prepared. Clear the room of wrappers, dirty dishes, unneeded clothing, and other items that you don't want in your wedding photos. Have your bridal party help you remove clutter from the room. Consider asking your maid of honor to keep things tidy so you can relax during your prep.

Consider where you are getting ready. Is the location big enough for everyone to get ready in? Consider choosing a suite at a hotel, a local AirBnb, or a family/friends home for you and your girls to get ready at that offers lots of natural light and a space big enough to fit your entire bridal party. keep in mind that lighting Is very important. Lots of natural light really help your photographer to get the best shots of you and your girls getting ready.

Have the details ready. The rings, wedding dress, veil, bridal party dresses, shoes, jewelry, invitations, flowers, and any other details you want captured ready and laying out for your photographer. Consider a special hanger or matching wood hangers to hang your and even your bridesmaids dresses instead of mismatched or plastic hangers.

Think about how you would like to look the morning of your wedding. If sweatpants and a tank top are your style consider having your girls in similar or matching outfits. Silk robes or matching shirts are also a popular option.

Don't forget about the boys. Groom prep is just as important to prepare for. Having the grooms details out like cufflinks, cologne, pocket square, tie, suit jacket, shoes, socks, watch, and any other of the grooms details. Consider having the groom also get ready at a well lit area big enough for all of the groomsmen to hang out in. Ask the best man and groomsmen to help keep the room free of clutter so the groom doesn't have to worry about it. Let the groomsmen know to be dressed before the photographers arrives and have the groom put on his shirt and pants but wait to put on the rest of his outfit/details until the photographer has had a chance to capture them.

Snacks are almost always a necessary part of a wedding morning but think about how you want them to be displayed in the background of your images. Instead of muffins in a plastic container put them on a plate, have glasses for your mimosas, and remember to throw away unneeded plastic bags.

The biggest tip is set yourself up for success. Make a list the week before the wedding of all of the things you need to get ready. Ask your wedding party to help you to take some of the stress off of your shoulders. This is a sure way to make the morning of your wedding a relaxing and fun start to your wedding day.

I hope this was helpful! Want Some More Tips? Check out my next blog post here ... wedding-tips-for-your-wedding-day-part-two

5 reasons to have an unplugged wedding ceremony and how to do it https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/5-reasons-to-have-unplugged-wedding-ceremony-and-how-to-do-it Pulling the plug on devices at your wedding

Here are 5 reasons to have an unplugged wedding ceremony

1. The most important reason to have an unplugged ceremony, in my opinion, is that it brings you and your guests closer. By asking your guests to put down their devices and cameras you are asking them to be present in this special moment with you. You invited these people to watch you take this giant step together for a reason and they should want to be a part of that and be able to give you their full attention.

2. Your photographer will thank you. An unplugged ceremony allows the photographer to do their job without interruption. The couple is paying a professional to take images and it is a challenge for photographers when a guest's device blocks the way of the bride coming down the aisle or a camera blocks the first kiss.  Of course any professional photographer is prepared and knows how to capture an amazing image either way but it is helpful to not have to worry about devices blocking that perfect shot.

3. Another good reason to ask your guests to unplug is to make sure there are not any distractions during your ceremony. It offers peace of mind that no phone alerts or ringtones are going to go off unnecessarily.

4. An unplugged wedding allows for your privacy. It creates a very intimate wedding atmosphere and prevents unwanted sharing on social media.

5. Because you want to! Unplugged ceremonies are starting to become very popular. Whatever the reason you may have it is your wedding, and you have every right to plan it the way you want it.

The biggest struggle with having a successful unplugged wedding is that your guests do not understand what is being asked of them. They might not understand the importance an unplugged ceremony is to you. Here are some tips on the best ways to plan a successful unplugged ceremony.

-Let your guests know ahead of time. Include your expectations for your guests in your wedding invitation (you can put this on a separate card if you do not want it on your wedding invitation). If you have a wedding website you can also list instructions asking guests to turn off their phones and cameras for the entire wedding, or just the ceremony, depending on your preference. Remember to be clear, polite, and strict. You want your guests to know you are serious and that this request applies to everyone. For example "We are having an unplugged ceremony. We invite you to be fully present as we become husband and wife. We ask you to kindly put away your phones and cameras and enjoy this moment with us until the ceremony is complete."

-Have a sign to remind your guests. Pinterest is a great resource for couples to find creative ways to display this reminder.

-Ask your ushers to remind guests to respect your request as they seat them.

-Ask your wedding officiant to remind guests at the beginning of the ceremony to be present with you as a final reminder before the processional starts.

Hopefully these tips help you to plan your unplugged ceremony!

Love, Bre

Go ahead.. rain on my parade.. https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/go-ahead-rain-on-my-parade How to take the drama out of bad weather on your wedding day

1. Have a backup plan

THE all time biggest thing to do is to have a backup plan for your wedding day in case of inclement weather. Be sure to read the fine print for your location vendor(s). Discuss with them what they can offer in case of rainy weather the day of. Consider offering blankets to your guest for outdoor fall weddings that might get chilly. Clear bubble umbrellas make an adorable prop for rainy weddings! Also letting your guests know that the ceremony may be outdoors is helpful so they can dress accordingly.

2. Remember not to panic

You wake up on your wedding day... and it's pouring outside. What do you do? Most brides will panic but I do not want you to do this.

If you happen to wake up to a rain on your wedding day the first thing you should do is take a deep calming breath. Yes, of course you are allowed to be upset for a little bit, but once you have taken that minute remember that panicking will do nothing to change the fact that mother nature has other ideas for the weather on your wedding day. Rain or not you can and will still get married today. Focus on that. You are marrying the love of your life rain or shine! They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck.. whether or not you believe in luck remember life like marriage is abut learning to dance in the rain! Some couples will even embrace it by using umbrellas, rain boots, or even going all in and literally dancing in the rain for the wedding photos. Maybe soaking your wedding dress a few hours after putting it on isn't in the stars for you and that's ok.

3. Stay positive

You and your significant other set the mood for the wedding. Don't let the weather ruin your special day. Remember to stay positive and show your guests that you are still ready to celebrate with them rain or shine!

4. Trust your photographer

Just because it is raining does not mean you still cant have the a wonderful dream wedding you've been imagining. Your photographer is a professional and should know how to capture gorgeous pictures rain or not! Just remember to be flexible as weather will have an effect on where pictures can take place but keep in mind the focus of the pictures are you and your new spouse not the background!

6. Overcast days are a photographers friend

Over cast days are a photographers best friend! When you have a really sunny day a photographer is actually more limited due to dark shadows and our clients squinting that we prefer cloudy days! If it does rain on your wedding day hopefully it will at some point let up so that we can sneak outside for some pictures and not have to worry about finding good lighting!

5. Consider booking a session after the wedding

If having outdoor portraits sans rain are a must for you talk to your photographer about the possibility of doing a session the day or week after. You could consider getting your hair and makeup re-done, putting your dress back on, and going to locations you may not have had the time to visit on your wedding day.

To first look or not to first look, that is the question https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/to-first-look-or-not-to-first-look-that-is-the-question First look... is it for you?

Ok, so what is the deal with a first look? What is it anyway? Why should or should't I? How do I do one?

So many questions for couples to consider when it comes to first looks.

First off for those who don't know what a first look is

A first look is when couples set aside time on their wedding day to see each other for the first time hours or just moments before the ceremony. Most of the time the photographer will be present to capture the moment in a private quiet area where the couple can take a time to be together alone before the vows and the rest of the wedding day begins.

Alright, so now how do you decide if a first look is for you?

well here, in my opinion, is the best way to start

talk to each other and decide if you are both on the same page. Some times watching the bride walk down the aisle, seeing her for the first time at the ceremony is much more important to the groom than it may be to the bride or the other way around. The biggest con to a first look is that you will lose that special moment of seeing each other for the first time at the alter. So make sure you are both in agreement about doing a first look.

Another reason not to do a first look is because of a tight timeline, possibility of prep running late and limiting first look time.

also, your dress may get a bit dirty if pictures are taken outside,

The last reason is that you will have to set aside time to do a first look. This will mean that you will have to get up a bit earlier on your wedding day.

Now here are the reasons to do a first look.

First looks can be really special. It offers a private moment for you and your significant other to be together. Just the two of you before the excitement from the wedding starts. Keep in mind that the pictures for a first look are just as special as those pictures of seeing each other at the alter for the first time.

First looks also can allow for a couple to be able to attend their cocktail hour. Most wedding portraits take place during cocktail hour so by doing a first look and taking your wedding and/or family portraits before the ceremony can free up a couple to enjoy their cocktail hour.

Also a first look may help ease wedding day nerves! If you are feeling overwhelmed about containing your emotions for your wedding ceremony a first look offers that privacy you might need. First looks offer a place to tear up in private. there is absolutely no shame in happy tears at your wedding but if you prefer to be in private in case of water works, a first look allows for that opportunity.

Remember first looks don't have to be just for the bride and groom. Consider a first look with the father of the bride or mother of the groom! These are also really special tender moments that dad and mom will treasure just as much as you will!

So how do you plan a first look?

First looks are best when held in a quiet and private area. Keep in mind well lit areas are best, and your photographer can be a big help with selecting the location. First looks should have at least 30 minutes of time allotted in your wedding timeline. If you would like to get as many photographs completed before the ceremony such as family pictures and/or your couples pictures make sure to plan for enough time for those to be taken before the ceremony. For more wedding information including how much time to allot for family photos check out my wedding tips blog here

http://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/here-come-the-tips

Want to make your first look a little more special? Add props like a blindfold for the groom to wear, use a door barrier to get some cute pictures before the big reveal, have little gifts/letters to share in person.

The most important thing is, do not let anyone pressure you to do a first look or to not do a first look. You and your significant other need to make a decision that you are happy with. Remember to ask your photographer if you have any questions, wedding photographers have been to a lot of weddings and have a lot of information to share.

Love, Bre

Jack and Heather | Buffalo, NY https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2018/6/jack-and-heather-butler-mansion-buffalo-ny Jack and Heather

To say that we had fun on this engagement session is an understatement.

We traveled to a few different spots in Buffalo to capture some fun photos.

I love doing engagement sessions because it gives my clients and I a chance to get to know each other better. I had so much fun getting to know a little more about this adorable couple before their wedding this fall!

You should know that Heather named her engagement ring... THIS IS SOMETHING WOULD TOTALLY DO and I got a big kick our of it!

Meet Alexandria. Isn't she a beaut!?!

Also Heather shared with me that these bracelets have a special meaning to them which I was so happy they included them in the session!

We then went to grab a few snapshots at the Greetings from Buffalo mural

I love how many awesome locations Buffalo has to offer for sessions! #Buffalove #Buffaloproud

Our next stop was the waterfront for some skyline pictures

They are so much fun! Love you guys!

Almost finished showing off our adventure....

Next was Tift Nature Preserve which may have been my favorite location because that blue sky! LOVE!

and our last stop was the Gallagher Pier

Thank you so much guys for choosing me to be your wedding photographer!

I am so excited to capture more lovely memories for you.

August can't come soon enough!

Weaver Wedding | Buffalo, NY https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/11/weaver-wedding-buffalo-ny I am so excited to blog some of the highlights from the Weaver wedding.

Dan and Jennie were joined by their friends and family while they said " I do" at the Foundry Suites in Buffalo, NY

The ceremony was filled with love and laughs as little Nicholas entertained the guests while Jennie and Dan shared their vows

I was blown away by Jennie's dress. Those little lace off the shoulder sleeves had me swooning!

The details didn't stop there!

From pumpkin place cards, to a cake with a motorcylce topper, this couple really put on an impressive event!

Highlights of the evening included a father daughter dance that brought tears to my eyes and speeches that had us all laughing.

This wedding was one I won't soon forget.

Congratulations Dan and Jennie. Your wedding was so beautiful and I feel so lucky that I was a part of it!

I wish you a lifetime of happiness and I can' t wait to share the rest of your images with you!

Doherty Family | East Aurora, NY https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/10/doherty-family-east-aurora-ny The Doherty family met me at Majors Park in East Aurora, NY

Mom suggested using the park and I am so glad she did! It was such a great location for the kiddos to run around. I think we all really enjoyed the boardwalk and reminiscing about the last time they were there!

Connor and Kara were much smaller then! It always shocks me how fast kids grow up!

Conner told me about his love of camping with dad in the back yard

I was informed that Kara plays Lacrosse! Which I found super impressive!

I also loved Kara's floral dress which I was told was bought from "The Store"

These two are just the sweetest siblings!

This picture is my favorite from the session! It just so happens to be Mom's too!

Thanks so much Doherty Family!

Jon and Alicia Wedding https://bcbphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2017/4/jon-and-alicia-wedding This past Saturday I had the opportunity to assist at my first wedding of the 2017 wedding season.

I have been working with BMK photography for over a year now and each wedding I assist is always so much fun and I always leave at the end of the wedding having learned something valuable.

I really enjoy assisting at weddings because the job of the assistant, in most cases, is to capture candids and little details. which is what I enjoy capturing most at weddings. The little details that the bride and groom spent time creating, the loving look the groom gives the bride when she isn't looking, the list goes on and on. So I couldn't help but share a few of my favorite images from Jon and Alicia's April Fools themed wedding.

Alicia's wedding day started at their home in Cheektowaga, NY

We then joined Jon and his groomsmen at the Botanical gardens before the ceremony started

The flowers were so beautiful both in the bouquets and at the location

Like I said, I love those little details. They had cans tied to their car! ugh I just love that! Of course I had to get a few pictures of the bride before she became a MRS!

Can't you just feel her excitement through these pictures?

A little sister love

Here comes the bride.. and her super sweet, a little teary eyed, dapper father!

The vows had their guests giggling one minute and crying the next

side note: The bride's bubbly personality made my entire day. She was so much fun to photograph!

i love getting a shot of the family looking at the bride and groom. So much emotion!

BOOM! There's that first kiss as husband and wife!

Is there a better way to end a ceremony than with a bubble exit?!

A little after ceremony fun ;) So cute! We went to Buffalo City Hall to get some group shots. It was cold but the wedding party didn't let that stop them!

Then over to the Lafayette Hotel for the reception

Details, Details, and Details from the reception

Cake!

Toasts!

First dance was a Polka!

Dance with Dad

Dance with Mom

One final picture before we headed out for the night!

Thank you to BMK Photography for asking me to assist. It's always pleasure!

Thank you to Jon and Alicia for sharing your special day with me

and also to the guests who were so great and made it so much fun to capture this wedding!

That's all for tonight guys!

Love, Bre

Pembroke, NY

October 11th, 2015

The Thompson session took place on a beautiful fall evening

This family of four was great to work with and these sweet little girls were all smiles.

The best part of working with children that every smile is genuine and every laugh is true.

Emma is the big sister and proud of it.

Her personality is big enough to fill a room she can entrance anyone with her long eyelashes and beautiful blue eyes.

of course let's not forget about little Annabelle

Annabelle was about to celebrate her first birthday in a few weeks, so we also added on a little birthday shoot with some adorable props

There were just so many great poses we used, that I was able to deliver about 3x the normal amount of images

Our session was joined by Emma's friend and the two of them are obviously are BFFs

More adorable shots of Emma

oh and I love this image, I can almost hear Annabelle's little laugh through it.

Thank you Thompson family for choosing me to take your family portraits! You were a blast to capture!

Glen Falls in Williamsville, NY

Saturday September 19th, 2015

Meeting this family at Glen Falls in Williamsville was a great start to my weekend.

(From left to right )

Dan, Jan, and Bethany

Bethany asked if I would be able to help surprise her mother with a family portrait session for her birthday.

I couldn't reply, yes, fast enough.

We had a blast taking pictures and exploring the park.

I loved capturing these two. You would have thought they had just fallen in love,

you would never guess they have been married for over 30 years

Jan and her husband Buddy

Bethany wanted to incorporate a mother/daughter love of coffee into the session

Of course being quite a fan myself, i thought thought the idea was genius.

This session was so much fun

Happy Birthday Jan! I hope you enjoyed your surprise!

Como Park in Lancaster, NY

Sunday September 13th, 2015

I spent a drizzly fall day capturing what can only be described as a shower of love for this young brides wedding shower.

The attention to detail put in by this lucky brides family and friends blew me away.

...and I will let these pictures speak for how delicious the food was.

The cupcakes were from the delectable Ohlson's bakery in Williamsville, NY

What goes great with cupcakes? A steaming hot cup of tea or Tim Hortons coffee of course.

We even caught a few rays of sunshine for some pictures

The Maid of honor (the brides younger sister) chose a paris theme in honor of the honeymoon destination.

Smiles were contagious as these women shared advice with the soon to be Mrs. while they enjoyed the festivities.

Of corse, what is a bridal shower without games and prizes.

and of course there were gifts

The best gift, in my opinion, was a hand drawn image by a talented family member

What a fantastic way to spend a Sunday. Best wishes to this happy couple
